The Linux Mint distribution team has started a new development cycle, and revealed the new improvements for the upcoming versions of the operating system based on Ubuntu and Debian.
The developers of the Linux Mint distribution have confirmed the upcoming Debian version first, which will include all the Linux Mint 19.3 enhancements such as boot repair, and HiDPI settings.
The Linux Mint Debian Edition 4 distribution will support Btrfs format and home partition encryption.
LMDE 4 will support NVIDIA cards as it adds a new boot menu entry to install NVIDIA drivers automatically. It will redirect you to login GUI in case of blackout screens during OS startup.
The Linux Mint 20 will be the other version of the operating system and will be based on Ubuntu 20.4 LTS currently being developed by the Canonical team. With the upcoming release you will be able to choose your screen frequency in Cinnamon 4.6's display settings.
Additionally, Cinnamon 4.6 will feature fractional scaling that will allow you to configure it price between 100% and 200% for each screen independently.
