Backing up your important files is something that every user should take care of. No one knows when damage your hard drive. Personal Backup is a free file backup tool for Windows that will take care of this for you, easily and in a simple graphical environment.

The program runs from Windows XP to Windows 10, for both architectures, 32 and 64 Bit. It is available in 9 languages, but unfortunately not in Greek. Currently the youngest it's 6.1.2 but on the web of the manufacturer you can also find the older ones.

The program at a glance
Personal Backup is a program for storing personal data in any destination folder. This folder can be located on a local fixed or removable drive, on a Windows network server, or on an FTP server. The files are selected for backup based on the folders. All subfolders are included automatically, but the user can exclude or include any subdirectory from the optional or filter backup. Additional criteria are the selection by file type, file age or file name filter.

In the destination folder the original drives (C:, D:, etc.) are displayed as subdirectories named LwC, LwD, etc. The original directory structure remains unchanged under these folders. All files can be compressed into gzip, either all together or separated by subfolders as zip files. Optionally, all data can be encrypted with AES algorithm.

The backup can be performed manually or automatically. During the backup, the program checks if the file to be saved is newer than an already created backup. Only newer folders and files are saved. An alternative criterion is the file size.

Automatic backups can start when you log on to Windows, or at a selected time of day, or when you quit or close. You can make scheduled backups with destination routes that change daily or weekly.

For individual schedules, it is easy to start a backup using the Windows Task Schedule and the program command line options.

Note: Personal Backup cannot be used to store and restore system files.

The program generally offers an easy graphical interface, much better than Windows Backup, with which you will immediately understand how to set the backup folders and what their destination folder is.

Make a backup
Personal Backup has a guide that guides you through the process of creating a new task. You must first select the directory in which the backup should be saved.

Then you need to select the files and folders you want to back up. The program offers a quick selection of user directories such as the "Documents", "Music", "Pictures" or "Desktop" folders.

And the last step is to set the backup settings. You can choose to save the data as separate folders or files.

Personal Backup is a program worth taking a look at. It can make your life easy, unless you want to be educated but at the same time feel the joy of creation, for example using various scripts.

You can download it from manufacturer's website, from here.
