Microsoft has released updates to fix a critical issue in Windows 10. This problem occurred at the worst possible time, as it affects some people who work from home.
An operating system error prevents the Internet from connecting to devices using VPNs, as Microsoft confirmed a few days ago.
So those who stay home because of the virus and use VPN for a more secure connection at work had a very serious problem. Microsoft finally managed to develop a patch and today released it as an optional update.
However, the company reports that only those affected by Internet connection problems should install this update. If all goes well, it's best not to install the update on your device.
An optional out-of-program update is available in the Microsoft Update Catalog to address a known issue where devices that use a proxy server, especially those using a virtual private network (VPN), may have limited or zero connection status on the Internet ”
"We recommend that you only install this optional update if you are affected by this issue. For more information, see Known Issues for Issuing Windows 10 or see the links below. ”
The updates released today are available for all the latest versions of Windows 10:
- Windows 10, version 1909 (KB4554364)
- Windows 10, version 1903 (KB4554364)
- Windows 10, version 1809 (KB4554354)
- Windows 10, version 1803 (KB4554349)
- Windows 10, version 1709 (KB4554342)
Needless to say, those who have problems connecting to Internet should install these updates as soon as possible.
Everyone else will have to wait until next Patch Tuesday, when all the necessary fixes will be included as a package in the new cumulative updates released through Windows Update.
