Microsoft has released some optional cumulative updates for different versions of Windows 10. Included is version 1909 which is considered the latest stable version of the operating system.
The Windows 10 in the 1903 and 1909 editions receive the same cumulative update, which brings many improvements, to the above systems.
We are talking about the cumulative update KB4550945 which as mentioned above brings several notable fixes, such as one concerning Windows Update.
According with Microsoft itself, fixed a problem that caused Windows Update to stop responding when checking for new updates. So theoretically always after installing this cumulative update, everything should work properly.
There are other fixes, such as one that fixes issues that various applications had after upgrading from a previous version of Windows. In other words, if your applications are no longer running after an upgrade from Windows 7, for example, and you see a message that says "Bad Image", this cumulative update might help.
Microsoft reports that the cumulative update KB4550945 also brings fixes to Windows 10 which for some reason were turned off when users connected to a VPN on a mobile network.
Last but not least, it fixes a problem that causes what the company describes as "unexpected alerts" when default applications are changed.
These updates are currently available as an option, so they will not automatically install on your device via Windows Update. All you have to do is check for updates on the Windows Update screen - optional updates or download them from Microsoft Update Catalog manually.
All improvements to today's new cumulative updates will be included in next Patch Tuesday which will also include security fixes. The next Patch Tuesday will be released by the company on May 12.
