Share a URL via QR code in Chrome and Edge

Google Chrome and the Edge allows you to create a QR code for a website address of your choice.

You can create a QR code image for any website Would you like. You should just be running Chrome Canary or Edge Canary. The relevant setting also exists in the stable versions of both browsers, but it does not work yet. Only Canary versions currently have this feature.

Chrome was the first and after two days Edge followed. Logically, we will also see it in the rest of the browsers that are based on , όπως το Opera, Vivaldi κλπ.

Η QR code generator will encode a URL you want. You can then read the code with a compatible device, e.g. with your phone camera and share quickly between your devices or your friends.

The feature is enabled via a flag from the browser settings. It is still in progress, so it is not enabled by default. If you want to try it, see below what you have to do. We reiterate that the following steps assume that you have installed the latest Edge Canary or Chrome Canary.

How to enable QR Code Generator in Microsoft Edge, (do the same in Chrome)

1. Update Microsoft Edge Canary (or Chrome) to the latest version.

2. Open Edge and type the following text in the address bar:
edge: // flags / #-qr-code-generator

This will open the flag page directly in the relevant setting.

3. Select Enebled from the drop-down list.

4. Restart Edge by closing it manually. You can also use the Restart button that appears at the bottom of the page.

How to use the generator.
To share a URL via QR Code in Microsoft Edge Chromium, go to the desired page and right-click on it.

1. Select "Generate a QR code for this page". In Chrome you'll find it in the vertical dots menu. Or simply, in both browsers, press the new one located above the field with the url address.

2. It will be created immediately and you will see the image with the QR code.

3. You can press "Download" to save it, or just read it on your smartphone.
