A cumulative information που κυκλοφόρησε για τα Windows 10 της επερχόμενης έκδοσης 2004, ή 20H1, επίσης γνωστή και σαν May 2020 Update, reveals new information about the upcoming version of Windows 10 20H2.
It confirms some rumors that were circulating and wanted the 20H2 version to be a small update, such as a service pack.
Microsoft will probably follow in the footsteps of Windows 10 1909, which is a small update to 1903.
Η latest cumulative update for Windows 10 version 2004, raises the build number to version 19041.264, and contains some basic information on how the 20H2 update will work.
If you try to update and see that there is a package called Microsoft-Windows-20H2Enablement when you install this version, you will end up with the 2009 version of Windows 10 Build 19042. Update KB4556803 applies to both Windows 10 2004 (19041) and and for Windows 10 2009 (19042).
The 1909 version of Windows 10 works similarly, allowing Microsoft to share updates in both 1903 and 1909 releases, but separates their capabilities through an "enabler" package.
So now we know that 20H2 is a small update with improvements that will focus on performance, and quality. The next version is currently known as Windows 10 version 2009, but Microsoft may change its name later.
In September or October 2020, Microsoft will release the new version for converting 20H1 to 20H2 installations.
Interestingly, Microsoft does not say anything about the fact that 20H2 will be a small update. The company had previously stated that it would not release more 19H2 patches.
But as it seems the situation has changed, and probably had to change. The continuous development model of Windows 10 that Microsoft has implemented under Windows as a service has caused a lot of problems consumers.
In this way the company slows down the development of new features, and focuses more on quality, something that Windows probably needed.
