OR Apple has released a suite of tools and resources today to help password-administrator developers - (and other applications) create strong passwords.
The new tools, called collectively Password Manager Resources, it is open sourced on GitHub from today for all interested parties. THE Apple states that the new tools are primarily intended to assist password management application developers (password managers) to create better applications for users.
OR Apple he stated that published these tools to address a long-standing issue with password management applications that affects users on all operating systems in the world and not just macOS and iOS.
The problem is that while password managers create unique and strong passwords, many times these passwords are not compatible with the websites for which they are created.
Users who encounter such errors when creating a random password often end up choosing one of their own, which is often smaller and less secure than that created by the password management application.
OR Apple states that password administrators who use its list of rules will start creating passwords that will be strong and unique, but will also be compatible with the websites for which they are used.
Furthermore, the Apple also published a list of websites that share login credentials, a list that the company hopes will "make auto-complete password suggestions more useful."
Furthermore, the Apple also shared a list of site URLs where users are redirected (currently) to change their passwords. THE Apple states that this list will be very useful for password administrator developers in case they find a weak password and want to take users directly to the password change page.
OR Apple stated today that the resources of Open Source Password Management, because they want password managers to incorporate these rules, but also to contribute to the project with their own image on this issue, for the general benefit of user security.
