WordPress Hosting is the cash industry

Web hosting companies and in particular seem to multiply daily. But the services they offer are basically the same.

Below we will see what is happening in today's WordPress hosting scene. The criteria to choose from are many, and to name a few: speed, reliability (up-time), ease of making changes, adding SSL, etc., and of course the price. Customer service may not be important to me, but it is very important to others.

During my time on the internet, I have used almost all hosting companies, with many websites from small or large blogs, online stores, small and large forums, portals with many tracking / advertising scripts, etc.

Let's look at my experience together. Many hosting providers will not like this post.

Shared Hosting

Away from us… from you… and if possible from everyone. Mars is a lot of money. Web site marketing is booming. The reins have been held by some wicked ones for years. These guys have managed to make a fortune with a highly unacceptable level of service.

1and1, A2, BlueHost, DreamHost, FastComet, Godaddy, Green Geeks, Hostgator, Hostnet, InMotion, InterServer, LiquidWeb. NameCheap, WiredTree, WPMU hosting. Away. In addition to unacceptable services, they make fun of people.

Let's do an experiment with BlueHost (random selection, try the same experiment with other companies from the list above).
Above are the WordPress hosting packages. The Plus is at 4.89 euros per month with everything unlimited and a domain . It's worth it… Let's proceed with the order

Surprise first

The package of 4.89 euros per month is for the purchase of Plus for three years. No dude, I want a month. Let me test if it has something less commitment. I just want to try their service and I want a package for a month.

Unfortunately the smallest package they have is for 12 months and the price from 4.89 euros automatically went to 6.69.

Let's move on

There are also the extras: a total of 144.73 euros per year + 80.29 fine. And it all started with 4.89 euros a month. So clickbait prices and services sucks.

Managed WordPress Hosting

Here the game thickens. The money is even more but at least the services are better than the services of Shared Hosting.

Let's take a look at its price list WPEngine

Scenario: do you have a site with 26.000 unique visitors per month? You will have to pay $ 95.

Of course the price list continues:

Yes, but the services they provide to the end user are worth it. Truth; You probably haven't read a comparative review by inboundnow that proves that a $ 5 package from Linode (unmanaged hosting) is much better in performance than the $ 25 package from WPEngine.

Kinsta? Better but still very expensive.

Regarding Siteground (managed sharing hosting) It is cheaper than WPE and Kinsta but it does not offer the quality of these companies.

It is one of the best low-tier shared hosting and very popular. It has good support.

But the GoGeek package that starts from 11.95 € per month, the renewal automatically becomes 35 euros per month. The SG Optimizer they use does 5 basic things but is not for professionals. If you have a site with few visitors (so with few requirements) they are good.
Their good packages are very expensive (see cloud hosting)

Finally what is the solution?

If you are novice user you will have to compromise with the above companies. Managed WordPress hosting is much more reliable than Shared hosting and has very good support groups. But if you also consider their services very expensive, there are alternatives.

For advanced users or beginners who want to pay one (iGuRu.gr takes care of what you need) there are the unmanaged VPS, and of course the dedicated servers. There are VERY reliable companies with prices that will surprise you. For example:

ή

Recently iGuRu.gr has switched from Cloud to VPS, and now it is Dedicated (not to Server4you). We have been using Server4you for many years in other projects (it started as a reseller of Leaseweb, but has since expanded) and we find it very reliable.

Caution we do not use affiliate links and that means something.

We recommend unmanaged VPS from Dicital Ocean or Server4you or Linode. Much better, cheaper and faster hosting
