Windows 10 1903, 1909 and 2004 new bugs

Microsoft says it is trying to fix an error that prevented Windows Sandbox and Windows Defender Application Guard from opening.

The problem affects versions of Windows 10 1903, 1909, and 2004. The error triggers one of the "ERROR_VSMB_SAVED_STATE_FILE_NOT_FOUND (0xC0370400)" or "E_PATHNOTFOUND (0x80070003)" messages.Microsoft: Cumulative Update Error KB4535996

The Windows Sandbox is a relatively new feature of Windows 10 Pro and Enterprise versions from 1903 onwards that allows users to boot a virtual machine with a basic version of Windows 10 to run potentially suspicious software without the risk of affecting the main installation of Windows 10.

The feature has proven popular with IT professionals because of its ability to safely run potentially dangerous executables in a container, and Microsoft has added several improvements to Windows Sandbox in Windows 10 2004.

The Windows Defender Application Guard (WDAG) is also a relatively new feature in versions of Windows 10 Pro and Enterprise that administrators can use to create a list of trusted sites and local resources.

WDAG comes into play when users try to open a URL that is not on the list. Launches Microsoft Edge in a container to maintain the program isolated from the rest of the operating system . Microsoft has released extensions of WDAG for Chrome and Firefox from last year.

"To fix this issue if you see one of the above error messages, you should restart your device", he says Microsoft.

Microsoft plans to fix the bug in an upcoming version of Windows 10, but has not said when it will be released.
