Microsoft has released an update except programming for Windows users. The update is currently available from Microsoft Update Catalogue.
KB4578013 is an update specifically for the Windows 8.1, Windows RT 8.1 and Windows Server 2012 R2. It comes to patch two different security vulnerabilities found in these operating systems.
Windows 10 devices are not affected by these vulnerabilities, so if you are using the latest version of Windows 10 you should be safe.
The two vulnerabilities that this update fixes are already documented: CVE-2020-1530 and CVE-2020-1537. Both vulnerabilities if exploited by someone malicious user can remotely grant them elevated privileges on a Windows system.
The Windows 7 are also vulnerable to both vulnerabilities, but as we already know, this version is no longer supported by the company. This means that the error will remain in the operating system.
For Windows 8.1 users, it is recommended that you install the new update immediately.
