Windows 10 (2004) Problem removing keyboard layout

One problem that occurs in Windows is the inability to remove the keyboard layout (hereinafter keyboard layout). If you search for the title on the internet, you will see that it appears as a problem more often with Windows 10 than with older versions.

Our example:

The language taskbar shows 3 available languages: Greek, English (US) and English (Philippine) added by mistake.
Now in the Windows 10 2004 version in the Control Panel the Language section has been removed and replaced with a selection in the path
Settings Ώ Time and language → Language. Keyboard.

Following the above path to remove the last layout, we see that it is not in the list

Making use of it and the command WinUserLanguageList to show us the installed keyboard layouts of the system, the results returned were only the Greek and English layout.

In the language switch with Alt + Shift, Filipino English is a real order!

On the internet the solutions that exist either follow the procedure of removing Keyboard layout through Control Panel (for the old versions) or from Settings, or the control of the Region option, or they suggest the deletion of registry keys such as

HKCU \ Keyboard Layout \ Preload \

In our case they do not apply because our system does not show the device we want to delete.

The solution (with its explanation):

Write in the Start menu: regedit and select Run as Administrator.
Go to the key (or copy - paste in the address bar)

HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ Keyboard Layout \ Substitutes

Each string (reference string value) is a reference to a language and the value it takes is the keyboard layout.
The string (Default) has no value and refers to the default system language (Settings) Area)

The string 00000409 is the EN-US language code that is usually second to all
facilities. In our case, by double-clicking on it, we see its value is 00020409, that is, the language layout is US International ().

There is also a second string 00003409 with price 00000409 which with an internet search is PHI-US (Filipino English) with US layout

So:

Delete any string other than (Default) and 00000409
If the value in the string 00000409 is a code that we do not have the opportunity to specify, as a sure solution is to enter the same code 00000409 as a value and then (if necessary) change it in the path:

Settings και Time & Language → Language → Keyboard → English → Options → + Add Keyboard

How the problem can be caused:

Personal assessment is a bug caused by the (albeit temporary) change of Area (option
another country). It is the only process by which the language keyboard of the country we have chosen is added without our own other action. By changing the country to the original, this keyboard remains and we can remove it from the Keyboard list.

But when the keyboard layout matches an existing keyboard (in our case Filipino had the same layout as the US English string), then this is not removed.

This article is not a translation of another and the estimate for the cause of Bug does not exist as explanation on the internet.

So if any reader has another opinion let them share it.

  1. Where do we see the language codes we want to remove? Is there a risk of a problem with the overall performance of the operating system? English (Philippines) and Qaa have appeared and I can not remove them. It is annoying, because in my texts I very often use the alternation between Greek-English.
