Epic Games, Fortnite's company, continues the controversy against Apple policy, and apparently has a new supporter.
A lawsuit filed by Microsoft reports that Apple's latest threat to discontinue the access of Epic Games from Apple's developer tools would hurt their business (Reuters)
Kevin Gammill, General Manager of the department Gaming Microsoft's Developer Experience discusses the importance of Epic's Unreal Engine and what would happen if Apple chooses to cut off access to developer tools.
It states that the Unreal Engine (Unreal Engine) is a "critical technology for many game creators, including Microsoft" as it provides "graphics, rendering, physics, sound and other technologies that work on multiple platforms".
Most importantly, however, Gammill points out that many developers do not "have the resources or capabilities to build their own game engine and use third-party engines."
What does this mean for the future of Epic Games and Microsoft games?
If Epic's Unreal Engine can't support gamea for iOS and macOS, Microsoft should choose or leave customer support on iOS and macOS platforms or choose a different engine to develop new games.
