Librem Mini version 2 with 10th generation Comet Lake

Purism, a company that focuses on privacy and develops the well-known Librem laptops and smartphones, has released a new version of Free Mini Linux PC.

Eight months after the unveiling of the Librem Mini small computer, Purism has released the second generation, which is powered by a new 7th generation Intel Core i10510-10U processor (Comet Lake) with clock speeds of up to 4,9GHz, 4 cores and 8 threads. It has an Intel UHD Graphics 620 card, so the new mini PC is much faster and more efficient.

Like the first generation Librem Mini, the 2nd generation uses the same mini form-factor with the same ports, as well as the same firmware with the Debian-based PureOS Linux operating system.

The best part is that it has the same price as the first generation Librem Mini Linux computer.

"While the Mini v1 was already a capable desktop or home server, the CPU upgrade makes the Librem Mini v2 even more powerful, while still offering the same PureBoot or coreboot firmware and running the same privacy-friendly PureOS." he says Purism.

The Librem Mini v2 has RAM up to 64 GB DDR4 2400MHz, up to 4TB 6GB / s SATA III SSD or HDD and M.2 SSD, RJ45 Gigabit Ethernet LAN, HDMI 2.0 and DisplayPort 1.2 ports that provide video playback up to 4K at 60fps, four USB 3.0 ports, two USB 2.0 ports, one USB Type-C 3.1 port.

The mini PC can also come with an optional 802.11n Wi-Fi wireless card that supports 2,4 GHz / 5,0 GHz and Bluetooth 4.0 networks, as well as a 3,5 mm audio jack with microphone and headphones.

Prices for the Librem Mini Linux v2 start at $ 699, according to the official website. The price of 699 USD is for the basic configuration with 8 GB RAM, 250 GB disk, 1 year warranty and without wireless connection.

The price can reach $ 2.944,00 with 64 GB RAM, 4 TB disk, Wi-Fi and 3-year warranty.
