Microsoft has completed development of the next version of PowerShell. THE company today made PowerShell 7.1 available for those interested to download.
PowerShell can run scripts on almost all Windows, MacOS and Linux platforms. Starting with PowerShell 7.0, developers are trying to align with the .NET release to better support the application lifecycle. So PowerShell 7.1 was released immediately after the release of .NET 5.0 and will align with .Net releases.
Changes made to PowerShell 7.1 include:
- PowerShellGet 3.0
- The Secret Management Module will get support for Linux.
- PSScriptAnalyzer 2.0 for a better user experience with VSCode-PowerShell and PSEditorServices.
- Improvements to the PowerShell Jupyter Kernel
- Improvements to platyPS vNext.
