Kali Linux is a Debian-based distribution with a collection of security - criminology tools.
The latest release of the project, Kali Linux 2020.4, makes zsh the default command line shell, guides new users to the distribution resources when they log in, and adjusts the bash shell to make it appear more like zsh.
In our previous quarterly release, 2020.3, we focused on switching from Bash to zsh as our default shell (where possible).
We are pleased to announce that after testing and feedback from users, the change is complete. Welcome to zsh. A big thank you to everyone who provided positive and constructive feedback.
We are happy with that and hope you are too. We know we can't thank you all together (so if you want to go back to Bash, run the command:
'chsh -s / bin / bash'). "
More information along with screenshots of the new bash shell can be found at announcement of the new version.
