Facebook today announced a new feature called Drives. No, it's not a "unit." disk” in the sense of yet another cloud storage service.
Drives feature comes with the concept of “clothing sharing” or “food sharing”. It is based on tools social network's fundraising for emergencies and communities, only this time it's not about raising money but about donating real goods.
The feature, which is launching in the US, will be available in the Community help center in the Facebook app. You can get access typing 'Community Help' in the Facebook search bar and then doing click in “Request or Offer Help” and “Create Drive.”
You will then be able to fill out a form with information such as the type and number of materials you want to collect. Once created, you and others will be able to see a tracker that shows how many material goods the collection contains and how many are still needed.
The feature is based on fundraising tools released by Facebook to help with emergencies, charities, nonprofits and more.
Drives start today and will be available to everyone "in the coming days" - hopefully it will be in time for Christmas.
