Disable Microsoft "Meet Now" in Windows 10

In 2020, Microsoft added the Skype Meet Now feature to the preview versions of Windows 10. This means that you will soon see it on your own computer. See how to turn it off, if of course you do not want it.

When Meet Now is added to Windows 10, it will display a small button with a camcorder icon on the system tray, which will start the Skype Meet Now web conferencing software when you click.

This icon allows Microsoft to embed the s Meet Now directly on Windows 10 to compete with Zoom and other platforms.

As shown above , if you click on the icon, a flyout will appear with options – “Create a meeting” or “Join a meeting”.

Both options will automatically launch Skype and start video conferencing. If Skype is not installed, Windows 10 will launch Skype Web on Microsoft Edge, where you will need to create or join a Skype meeting.

How to disable the Skype Meet now icon in Windows 10

As mentioned at the beginning, Meet Now is enabled by default, but you can right-click on the icon and select "hide" to turn it off.

If you still can not hide the Meet Now button from the taskbar, follow these steps:

  1. Open the settings,
  2. Click Personalize.
  3. Click the taskbar.
  4. Click "Enable or disable system icons".
  5. Uncheck the "Meet Now" option.

If you want to reset the changes, just go back to the same Settings page and turn on the feature.
