Change your vehicle icon in Google Maps

Google Maps for Android show your vehicle as an arrow. Now in the latest app update, you can change your vehicle icon to something different.

Google Maps for Android could not change the appearance of your car icon on the map. So far. See how you can do this and therefore personalize the application even more.

The new feature should already be available on your Android device. Your device is running Google Maps version 10.52.2 or later.

If you do not know the current version of the Maps application you can search for it through the list of your installed applications in Store. You will notice that the version number appears there, under the “App Description” section. You just have to scroll down a bit.

Car icon on maps

step 1. Start the program on your Android mobile phone and ask it to go to a location. It doesn't matter which one, as long as the navigation is active.

Now, if the app is in the default state, your vehicle's location on the map will appear as the classic arrow as shown below.

step 2. Click this arrow symbol and a surprise will appear. The app will ask you to choose how you want your car to look on the map.

At the time of this writing, you have four options. The first is the default arrow you are trying to get rid of. And then there are three other options. A red car, a yellow one, and a green one .

step 3. Click on the car of your choice and it will be displayed immediately on the map. Of course, you can change your mind as many times as you want.

This is a great way to make Google Maps a little more colorful. It would be nice to see more car (and maybe motorcycle) symbols. Hopefully they will be available in the future.
