Do you know how to take a screenshot and where they are stored? See how you can change their location in Windows 10.

In Windows 10 screenshots are saved to or in one position and you can easily change. If you want to know where screenshots are saved in Windows 10 and how to change their default location, read this guide.

Where do screenshots go on a Windows 10 PC?
In Windows 10, there is more than one way of a screenshot. Depending on how you will use the screenshots, they go either to your clipboard, or to a specific location on the installation disk.

In your clipboard go the of your screen when you use it Snip & Sketch function. For this function you have to press the Win + W keys at the same time and from the lower right window that will open select the Full Screen Clip. You can also go through settings, but this is not our topic in this article, to analyze it

The second and oldest and most classic way to take a photo of your screen is to simultaneously press the Win + Print Screen keys.

Your screenshot will be automatically saved to: C: \ Users \ onoma_xristi \ Pictures \ Screenshots.

While this keyboard shortcut is convenient because it is only 1 click, to see the snapshots you have to "travel" to the folders of your operating system by going to your Images and from there to the default folder, called Screenshots.

NOTE: The Screenshots folder is created only after you have taken your first screenshot using the above method.

Although this site may be intuitive and work for most users, there are times when you may want to change it and put a more easily accessible one, such as a specific folder on your desktop, for example.

How to change the location of the Screenshots folder in Windows 10
If you want the results of the Windows + Print Screen keys to be saved to another location, you must first create a new folder for your screenshots. The folder, which can be anywhere you want on your Windows 10 PC.

Step 1: First create a new folder wherever you want and name it Screenshots.

Step 2: Then go to the Screenshots Properties folder in the Images. Right-click on it and select Properties from the drop-down menu.

Step 3: Go to the "Location" tab and you can see the existing path in the folder "C: \ Users \ username \ Pictures \ Screenshots". To change the position of your screenshots in Windows 10, click the Move button.

Step 4: This opens the "Choose a destination" window. Browse your computer until you find the folder you created in Step 1 for the screenshots. Click to select it, then press the Select Folder button.

Returning to the Screenshots Properties window, you should see the new path you selected for the Screenshots folder. Click the Apply button and then OK.

Step 5: Windows 10 will ask you if you want to move all the screenshots from the old location to the new one. Select Yes and all your old screenshots will go to the new screenshot folder. All screenshots you take from now on will be saved in the new location.

Depending on how many screenshots you have taken so far, the scrolling process may take some time. When done, the original Screenshots folder disappears from Pictures.

If you did not name the second folder which is the default name desired by Windows 10 then you will see that your folder has been magically renamed to Screenshots!!.

The Screenshots folder only changes for the current user account. Repeat this process for each account for which you want to move the Screenshots folder.

Beware of this mistake: Do not move one user folder to another user folder!
Take special care: Do not declare any of the Windows 10 system folders, such as desktop, Download, Pictures, Music, Documents, Videos, as a Screenshot folder. If you do then two system folders (eg screenshot and desktop) will go to the same location and this will confuse Windows. You will not be able to separate them !!.

How to restore the default location of the Windows 10 Screenshots folder
If you want to move the Screenshots folder to its original location, you can easily do so from its Properties. Go to the Display Properties as explained in the previous chapter and click the "Reset Defaults" button on the Location tab. Then click OK to save your changes.

If the original Screenshots folder no longer exists, then it must be created. When Windows 10 asks if you want to create it, click Yes.

Move all screenshots to the default screenshots folder, as explained in the previous chapter. Then click OK and the Screenshots folder returns to its default location.

Would you like an easier way to find your screenshots in Windows 10?
Finding the location of Windows 10 screenshots should not be a challenge. You can simply create a folder shortcut and then go to that shortcut where you want. On your desktop for example.

But this article has taught you that there are many ways to do something. And the important thing is not to do something the easiest way but to learn the features of Windows 10.
