Adobe Flash will cease to be supported from 2021. Adobe has released last update of Flash in December 2020 and announced that it will disable it from 2021.
The big programs browsing όπως ο Chrome, ο Edge και ο Firefox δεν θα υποστηρίζουν πλέον το Flash. Τι γίνεται όμως αν κάποιος πρέπει να έχει access to Flash content after 2020 and what will happen to the Flash content that will still be available on the Internet?
A choice we will have with it Internet Archive, as it has saved Flash content that can be played with an emulator via the official website.
The Internet Archive it uses an emulator called Ruffle. The emulator is written in Rust and supports all modern operating systems as well as modern browsers that support WebAssembly.
What's interesting is that its developers have created extensions for almost all browsers Firefox, Chrome, Edge, Brave, Opera, Vivaldi and Safari.
Installing Ruffle in your browser of choice adds Flash emulation to the Browser. The browser automatically detects Flash content and you can play it as if you had Flash installed.
The extension is not currently hosted on the Chrome Web Store or the Mozilla Add-ons Store. It is still under development but it works.
