The websites Tree.fm and Sounds of the Forest contain a growing collection recordings from forests around the world.
We love the strange things that can be found on the internet, that's why we present you today two websites that have collected recordings of the sounds of forests around the world, giving you a taste of a sound map of the Earth.
Tree.fm
The Tree.fm currently has 39 forest sounds for touring and enjoyment. Some are quiet, some noisy full of birds and wild animals or water sounds and some with some human touches.
Entries vary in length, have duration from 30 seconds to about three minutes and repeat automatically. Some have sound effects (slowing down sounds) as well as the occasional human-made noise such as footsteps or the microphone.
Πατήστε το κουμπί “Next Random Forest” (Επόμενο τυχαίο δάσος) και η ιστοσελίδα takes you to the next random forest. The images on each forest page are taken by free Unsplash photo site.
Sounds of the Forest
The sound map Sounds of the Forest collects forest sounds from around the world, creating a growing acoustic map.
Visit the site to browse the forests by geographical location around the world and click on the icon to listen. The website is not perfect, as you can find a forest sound that is not in the right place on the map. For example, there is a forest in Portugal that is on the east coast of the USA on the map.
From Greece it has a sound from the forest in Karpenisi, one from Zagorochoria and one from Samothrace.
Both Tree.fm and Sounds of the Forest are a great way to relax, to hear the sounds of the forest, from all over the world. Spend some time after a busy day.
