How to enable and disable window naming in the Google Chrome and Edge browser.
Google Chrome and Chromium-based Edge let you rename their open windows. Especially for Microsoft Edge the feature is so far in Insider builds, but in Chrome it's already in the version you're running (if you're running the latest).
This feature lies in being able to rename its open windows browser with a name of your choice. This is useful if you like to have multiple windows open at the same time and sorted by task. Renaming them helps you to easily find the window you are interested in (e.g. news, Forums, work etc).
Let's see how you activate it.
Step 1: Open Google Chrome flags. For this step, open a new tab and type chrome: // flags / # window-naming . If you are with Edge, put the word Chrome where the word Edge is. Then press key Enter.
Step 2: In this tab you should see the “Window Naming” flag. To the right of it, click the drop-down menu, then select Enabled to enable or disable the service.
Step 3: Restart your browser.
How to name a window in Google Chrome
Now that the feature is turned on and ready to go, let's look at how to name a window in Chrome.
Step 1: In a Chrome window, hover your mouse over the tab bar, but not on a tab, but in the space between the tab names and the zoom out symbol (-). Right click there.
Step 2: In the drop-down menu, click "Window Name". A small window will open where you can write the name of your choice.
Step 3: Press Ok to save the name.
You can now see your open windows with the name you gave them from the Windows taskbar.
Do this for each window to which you want to add a name. You can add names to any number of windows your computer can handle.
