Unscreen: Free automatic video background removal

Unscreen is a free online tool that can and does automatically, easily and quickly remove backgrounds from a video and create an animated GIF.

Removing the background from a video definitely exists as a built-in feature in heavy and expensive image editors. But these programs, although complete and perfect, have so many parameters and possibilities that they become chaotic. If you just want to remove the background from a video, opt for something simpler, like Unscreen.

Its use is simple. Go to his website and upload a video clip from your computer or a GIF (Upload clip) photo and the background is automatically removed.

Once the background is removed, Unscreen lets you replace it with default animated backgrounds, or background colors, or an image, or you can leave it transparent. The default backgrounds are interesting and easy to apply with one click.

To download a clip, select the Download button. Clips are saved by default as GIF, use the drop-down arrow on the download button to save as animated GIF, animated PNG or zip file of individual PNG frames.

The free version supports downloads of .mp4, .webm, .ogg, .mov, .gif files.

The edited videos are 5 seconds long (10 seconds if you are recording), have 360p resolution and contain a distinctive Unscreen watermark in the lower right corner. Uploading a large video only results in editing in the first 5 seconds.

Editing time depends on the size of the video and the speed of your internet connection. The short videos were edited surprisingly fast to us.

Maybe it's not perfect. Tracks may be left and preserved as a background or large compact objects as backgrounds, but creating fast GIFs is a great service.
