San Francisco police are preparing for a pro-Trump protest at Twitter headquarters, a building that has been virtually abandoned since the beginning of the pandemic, with most Twitter employees working remotely.
The possible protest is coming a few days after the Twitter ban to President Trump to use his service. President Trump has millions of followers on his Twitter account and the company called his continued incitement to violence against them conditions of platforms.
“The San Francisco Police Department is aware of the possibility of a demonstration in its 1300 block Market Street (Twitter) tomorrow, Monday, January 11, 2021. SFPD reached out to Twitter representatives. We will have sufficient forces to respond to any protests, as well as calls for service throughout the city," a spokesperson for the police service wrote in an email.
The San Francisco Chronicle, which mentioned for the first time the preparations by SF police, noted that discussions of Trump supporters from tWitter
Twitter is one of the technology companies that isolate the president and many of his supporters, after the riots in the Capitol on Wednesday.
