Toyota Research Institute the automatic racing driver

Self-driving cars sound exciting. But for quite some time now, they just sound. We are going to see them at some point in the future, because in other words, we do not have them.

But engineers and developers seem to be trying to make it happen.

The Toyota Research Institute has equipped a prototype Supra with everything it needs to be able to drive on its own. Watch the new Fast and Furious in the following video from The Wheel Network on YouTube.

The description of the video states:

What if every driver in trouble possessed the instinctive reflexes of a professional race car driver and the calculated pre of a supercomputer to avoid collision?

The at the Toyota Research Institute are collaborating with the Stanford Lab to realize this vision.

Engineers are conducting a research on how to combine the instincts of professional drivers and automated of driving.

Their goal is to design a new level of technologically active safety and to share it widely so that Toyota and other carmakers can develop it on the road.
