While the internet was full of advocates of Barrett Brown's release, which was expressed through Twitter and more generally through social networks over the past two years, the court had another view.
Today Barrett Brown was sentenced to five years and three months imprisonment for impediment to justice, assistance and synergy to threats against an FBI agent.
The accusations arise from the case of Stratfor hack held in 2011. Brown allegedly did not participate in the hack but copied and pasted a URL that led to the data that had been stolen from one chatroom to another.
The data included email addresses and credit card numbers.
