A camera pill size has been approved by the FDA as an alternative for patients who are unable to have a colonoscopy.
The capsule has a camera at both ends. It takes 8 hours to navigate through the patient's intestines. All of it duration of the “trip” takes high quality photos speedwhich are then sent to a device that is examined by the doctor, as reported by Mashable.
The device is not intended to take the position of the colonoscopy, but to be used in conjunction with it. Its price is around 500 dollars.
PillCam is approved in 80 others countries, except from the US.
