Useless Copilot button on new PCs

Microsoft marketed the new generation of Windows PCs as “+ PCs” και “AI PCs”.

Copilot has made many changes in Windows 11. The company from the

With the Copilot sidebar gone, the new Copilot button is pretty much useless as it just opens the Copilot WebView. In the case of enterprise customers, the situation is even worse, because Microsoft does not want the to use the Copilot web application. He wants them to use the Microsoft 365 app, which is better and has Copilot built in.

So Microsoft now automatically redirects the Copilot app to open the Microsoft 365 app on corporate PCs and asks users to manually change how the Copilot button works.

What about businesses that have computers with a Copilot key? According to a Microsoft document, which was first detected by Windows Latest, you'll need to reassign your Copilot key to open the Microsoft 365 app if you're using work or education.

Since the Copilot app requires a Microsoft account to work, administrators will need to reassign the Copilot key to open the Microsoft 365 app.

Was the button necessary?

Since Copilot became an app icon, the button has become less necessary. Why press a key when you can launch Copilot from the taskbar?
