Adobe has announced the launch of Firefly, a major step forward in its AI-powered video creation platform. Previously focused on images and vectors, Firefly now features the Firefly video model in a public beta.
Adobe claims the Firefly Video Model is “the first commercially viable AI video creation model,” powering the Video Creation (beta) feature of Adobe’s new app and the Generative Extend (beta) feature in Adobe Premiere Pro.
Adobe is emphasizing the model’s ability to produce friendly video content suitable for commercial use. This new model expands the Firefly family, which Adobe says has already been used to create more than 18 billion assets worldwide.
The core feature, Generate Video (beta), allows users to create video clips based on text messages or image inputs. It offers control over camera angles, allowing users to specify shot types and perspectives. The tool also makes it easy to create visual elements like atmospheric effects and custom motion graphics.
Currently supporting 1080p resolution, Adobe plans to introduce a lower resolution model in the future as well as a 4K model for higher production quality.
Beyond video creation, the Firefly app integrates with Adobe's established Creative Cloud suite, which includes Photoshop, Premiere Pro, and Adobe Express apps.
