The United Nations recommends rechargeable batteries lithium-ion (lithium ions) should not be allowed inside the aircraft and their presence on them is completely prohibited.
The reason is the possibility of a fire on the batteries Lithium-ion. Similar bans have been made recently by airlines around the world, which do not allow the presence of hoverboards inside the planes because of the batteries they contain.
The relevant United Nations committee says that the possibility of a fire from a chain reaction caused by amode of lithium-ion batteries means that these devices must not be present on airplanes. Its recommendations do not include cargo flights, according to the The Guardian.
If the United Nations passes such a ban, it is certain that it will have a major and immediate impact on passenger travel. The International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) responsible for this issue will meet next month to make a final decision on whether the proposal should be implemented.
