The websites Tree.fm and Sounds of the Forest contain a growing collection recordings from forests around the world.
We love the strange things that one can find on the internet, that's why today we present to you two websites that have collected recordings of soundof forests around the world, giving you a taste of a sound map of the Earth.
Tree.fm
The Tree.fm currently has 39 forest sounds for touring and enjoyment. Some are quiet, some noisy full of birds and wild animals or water sounds and some with some human touches.
The recordings vary in length, last from 30 seconds to about three minutes and are repeated automatically. Some have sound effects (slowing down the sounds), as well as occasional man-made noise, such as footsteps or the microphone.
Make it click στο κουμπί “Listen to a random forest” (Ακούστε ένα τυχαίο δάσος) για να μεταφερθείτε σε ένα δάσος κάπου στον κόσμο. Οι pictures on each forest's page are taken from the free photo site Unsplash.
Sounds of the Forest
The sound map Sounds of the Forest collects forest sounds from around the world, creating a growing acoustic map.
Visit the site to browse the forests by geographical location around the world and click on the icon to listen. The website is not perfect, as you can find a forest sound that is not in the right place on the map. For example, there is a forest in Portugal that is on the east coast of the USA on the map.
From Greece it has a sound from the forest in Karpenisi, one from Zagorochoria and one from Samothrace.
Both Tree.fm and Sounds of the Forest are a great way to relax, to hear the sounds of the forest, from all over the world. Spend some time after a busy day.
