A recent announcement by Amazon Web Services (AWS) says it will allow organizations to access its fully managed quantum computing service, brackets.
In December last year, at congress AWS re:Invent featured a number of quantum innovations. On the first day of the event, the company presented the Bracket, the AWS Quantum Solutions lab and the AWS Center for Quantum Computing. Now AWS is taking the next step with quantum computing services. On Thursday, AWS announced the general availability of the Braket.
“As we see quantum computing technologies make significant progress, thousands of customers are asking for ways to experiment with quantum computing to explore its potential. technologyand contribute to its growth," said Bill Vass, vice president of technology, at AWS in the company's announcement.
"The cloud will be the main way our clients will access quantum computers and combine these systems with classic high-performance computing for certain types of intensive computational research."
In the development environment, customers are able to "explore and design" quantum algorithms, use simulated quantum computers to test and repair them. The company hopes this will help customers test their applications. At the right time, customers will be able to test these algorithms in a range of different quantum architectures.
Braket allows customers to use “familiar tools like notebooks Jupyter to access pre-installed developer tools that can be used to design quantum algorithms, visualize results and collaborate with others,” according to the press release. Braket customers will have access to quantum computing systems built by Rigetti, IonQ and D-Wave. The company here states that customers will only be charged for the computing resources they use.
The company promotes quantum computing with the ability to offer a new world of scientific discoveries with the power to "transform" industries in many fields such as energy, chemical engineering, pharmaceuticals, finance and more.
As of Thursday, Amazon Braket is available in the Northern California, Northern Virginia and Oregon areas. However, the company plans to make Braket available in more markets in the future.
