Android 14 developer preview 1

Google was released its first developer preview and allows us to see the next version of the operating system. It comes with a new news which appears to be inspired by NASA space missions.

Η νέα έκδοση του λειτουργικού συστήματος είναι κατασκευασμένη με γνώμονα τα tablet και τις πτυσσόμενες συσκευές. Η Google αναφέρει ότι το “δημιουργήθηκε από τη made in Android 12L and Android 13 to support tablets and foldable devices”, which means we can expect several optimizations for large-screen devices.

Security is an important factor of every new Android version and version 14 will prevent installation/sideloading of old apps for older versions of the OS. To be more specific – Android 14 will not allow you to install apps with targetSdkVersion lower than level 23 corresponding to Android 6.

Android 14 will be equipped with a new feature called non-linear font scaling. Users will be able to scale system fonts to 200% and the it will also apply the custom scale to the smaller sub-menu text elements as well.

Android 14 Developer Preview 2 is scheduled to be released in March, and Google will continue to release new developer builds every month until July

Android 14 DP 1 can be installed on Pixel 7 Pro, Pixel 7, Pixel 6a, Pixel 6 Pro, Pixel 6, Pixel 5a 5G, Pixel 5 and Pixel 4a 5G devices.
