Η Google released a few days ago the stable version of Android 7.0 Nougat. The new operating system is currently only available for a few Nexus smartphones. So there are quite a few disappointed to find that some Nexus 5 and Nexus 7 devices were unable to receive the new edition.
Why
According information by leakster LabTooFeR many smartphones that released 2014 and earlier will not be able to upgrade to Android 7.0 Nougat due to Qualcomm. Obviously, the maker of processors will not release updates for Snapdragon 800 and 801.
Devices using these processors have released 2014. Nexus 5, for example, is powered by Snapdragon 800 and that might be why it has not been included in the list of Nexus smartphones that can be updated on the latest Google OS.
If the rumors are true, then many other smartphones will not be able to get the update, not just the Nexus 5. Some of these smartphones are HTC One M8, Sony Xperia Z3, Samsung Galaxy S5, Samsung Galaxy Note 3 and the LG G3. However, considering that the Snapdragon 800 and 801 processors were very popular, the list could include even more smartphones.
Here, we should mention that many of these devices have overcome their support period and will therefore not have priority for updating in a new operating system version.
However, many of these smartphones are able to work with the new Android 7.0 Nougat, including Nexus 5 and 7.
