An upcoming update to the Google Phone app adds various sound effects to the Android dialer. First spotted in beta by 9to5Google.
The updated app will let you tap one of six “Audio Emoji” buttons to play a short audio clip that both sides of the call can hear.
There is clapping, laughing, crying, partying, a drum beat and… a venting sound…. You can access the buttons during a call by pressing the option in the dialer menu or from a small flag that is present at the bottom.
Maybe the teenager in you wants to try the last sound at least once with a trusted friend who won't misunderstand your humor.
This could all just be a product of boredom by some Google engineer. Just don't overdo it with your loved ones unless your goal is to hang up as soon as possible.
Google I/O is coming up on May 14, so hopefully we'll have more information on the really useful new features.
