The website of the Police Department Albuquerque went offline after attacks of Anonymous of hacktivists, who were protesting because police officers from that department shot and killed two people during the last few weeks. The Anonymous hackers "Downloaded" the website of the police department for hours last Sunday.
Her representatives polices admitted that the website was offline on Sunday due to the attack, and reported to Associated Press that the source of the attack could not be detected.
This is not surprising since DDOS attacks typically come from too many computers, many of which are already malicious and malware-controlled.
Last weekteam, the Anonymous hacktivists released a threatening statement about the City of Albuquerque and the Police Department. They even urged their supporters to take over the headquarters and get started cyber attacks against the police department website.
Hackers also had software for DDOS attacks on those who wanted to participate in the online demonstration.
In addition to his police station website, the hackers temporarily interrupted the operation of the official website of the City of Albuquerque.
Immediately after the attack, Anonymous published a videotape about the police assault, which showed officials to claim to have stepped up security measures. Obviously, the additional measures did not work.
But why were the attacks carried out?
It all started in 16 March, when the police shot and killed a homeless who was outside a public housing complex. Police officers claimed they were threatened, but a leaked video shows that the victim was about to leave when he was shot.
A few days later, another man was shot. Police officers said they opened fire, but his family insists he only held one phone in his hand. Both cases are being investigated.
