Disabled product in Microsoft 365 apps

For example, in Word, a warning banner will appear that says, “Your Microsoft 365 license will be deactivated soon” followed by “… most Word features will be deactivated. Ask your administrator to activate your license.

Microsoft explained what causes it and provided a solution for it :

CAUSE

  • Any change made by the administrator to the permission level can cause the problem. The following are possible reasons that can cause this problem:
  • Change in licensing group, where the user is moved from one group to another (Applies to both Azure AD groups and security groups synchronized from on-premises AD)
  • Changes to user-level licensing/product assignment. Example: switching a user license from an Office 365 E3 subscription to a Microsoft 365 E3 subscription
  • Remove and re-add users to the same permission group or a different permission group.
  • Switch license or service plan for users.
  • If administrators have disabled the "Latest version of Desktop Apps" service plan under the Microsoft 365 subscription for users.

TROUBLESHOOTING

Select the Reactivate button from the banner. You will be prompted to log in to reactivate.

Sign out and close all Microsoft 365 apps, including Outlook. Then restart the Microsoft 365 app and sign in again.
