From NASA to Harvard: The dominance of WordPress

You've used WordPress without knowing it… NASA, Harvard University, Harvard Gazette, White House, Microsoft News, Vox, Global News, Amnesty International, The Intercept, New York Post, TIME, TechCrunch, Rolling Stone, Daily Kos, TVLine, Physics World, Pew Research Center, The New York Times Company, Disney Connect, TED Blog, NGINX, 9to5Mac, OMG! Ubuntu!, Ubisoft Québec, MIT Sloan Management Review, Georgia State University, U.S. Department of State, Prime Minister of India, and California DMV.wordpress nasa white house

And all this is only a small percentage.

That's why characterizing WordPress as simply "a platform for blogging" is now outdated.
Some of the most recognizable websites use WordPress. WordPress.org mentions the New York Post in its official WordPress Showcase section, which showcases some of the largest and most successful sites in the world that use the platform.

Specifically, WordPress.org includes a special page dedicated to the New York Post in the WordPress Showcase, highlighting it as a leading example of “WordPress Enterprise” (corporate/large-scale use) in the publishing and newspaper category.

The WordPress Enterprise plan is used by large companies/services such as Disney, CNN, Vox Media, and Amnesty International.

Why WordPress?

Because it's not designed for just one type of website, a creator can use it as a blog, a business as a corporate website. A publisher can manage millions of articles, a university can manage an entire network of websites, a large enterprise can create a highly customizable publishing platform.

Harvard uses WordPress Multisite while Disney uses WordPress Enterprise and Multisite.

WordPress isn't just surviving as newer website building platforms are constantly emerging.

Among the top 1 million websites, WordPress still accounts for about half of all sites with a recognizable CMS, according to W3Techs. This is significant, as WordPress’ dominance isn’t just due to millions of small personal blogs. It’s used by major publishers, governments, universities, media companies, and global organizations.
In short. WordPress conquered the web, and evolved into something much bigger than a simple CMS. It turned into an ecosystem.
