It is an application - or rather an application - created by the Google Developers Community (GDG Thessaloniki), with the support of TEF-HELEXPO, which will be presented at the DETROP Food and Beverage exhibition in Athens (March 14-16, Helexpo Maroussi Exhibition and Conference Center).
The specific application maps Greek products and, starting from the location, leads the user to information about the "culinary geography" of the region, tradition, culture and everything else that can frame the framework of "Greek Heritage".
Άλλωστε, η τεχνολογία είναι ένας τομέας στον οποίο επενδύουμε συστηματικά καθώς συνδέεται με την καινοτομία, την development and by extension our future" said, speaking to APE-MPE, the CEO of TEF-HELEXPO Kyriakos Pozrikidis.
The application gives -among other things- the possibility to locate, choosing a category of products, all the companies operating in the area, modern but also traditional units: farms, mills, breweries, dairies, vineyards, orchards, restaurants, cafes, food markets , grocery stores, hotels and inns. "It is a pioneering idea based on Google Maps APIs and can be enriched indefinitely with data that will be added by all those who wish to contribute," explained to APE-MPE the founder of GDG Thessaloniki, Panagiotis Tzinis.
"This is Open Linked Data, a method by which open structured data is published, so that they are interconnected and more useful. It is built on basic internet technologies, which do not stop at serving only the reader of the website, but extend to distribute this data, so that it can be read automatically by computers. This allows data from different sources to be linked, ”he explained.
"Thus, the user is given the opportunity to extract from a search richer and more information related to it," he added, adding that GDG Thessaloniki and its partners are responsible for data validity and security. According to Mr. Ginis, this will lead to a huge database, with the contribution of other bodies (university, educational, government) to be used in the future as a tool of extroversion.
"As a Google developer community, we want to offer the know-how needed to highlight Greek production by helping with the need for growth," said Mr. Tzinis, adding: "This type of mapping will provide much more information that we can use. , such as to see what needs each area has and where it is worth making a relevant investment or not ".
