All home computers have many applications installed that actually do not use them. Almost every computer user installs apps and then completely forgets about them and gets back to them. The same is true for Windows 11 computers.
But Windows 11 gives you the right to archive them!. This way you can save from a few MB to several GB of storage on your system and bandwidth on your internet connection.
When you archive an app you're not using in Windows 11, the files and data in that app will remain stored on your device. The only difference will be that they will be in a "sleeping state", that is, they will not make any communication with the internet.
The services it has installed that occasionally connect to the internet, check for new versions and either notify you or download the new version, will do absolutely none of those things.
When you decide to run an archived app again, it will "wake up", Windows 11 will download and install from the web or from the Store the latest version of that app, provided of course that the app is available from its supplier.
In Windows 11 you can enable app archiving for your or any other specific user account present on the system through Settings. Let's see how.
Step 1 : Press Win + I keys simultaneously to open the Settings app.
Step 2 : Go to Apps > Apps & features > More settings > Archive apps.
Step 3 : Under App Archiving, you can set this option to On to allow Windows 11 to archive apps that you are not using.

You can then close the Settings app and get back to work. The setting you configured above only applies to your current account from which it is configured.
For any other account, you must first sign in to that account and then set this setting to take effect.
