Businessman Elon Musk insists that pioneers should be aware of the future of the social risk that comes from the use of artificial intelligence (AI). At South of Southwest (SXSW) held on Sunday, the SpaceX founder reminded us once again.
"It is a case where there is a very serious danger to the public, so there should be a public body that will have the insight and supervision of all those who develop AI. "It's extremely important."
“Some AI experts (Artificial market) think they know more than they think and are smarter than they are... So we have smart people, who define themselves by their intelligence and don't like the idea that a machine can become smarter than them, something that is fundamentally wrong.”
Referring to AlphaGo and his predecessor AlphaGo Zero, Musk said the AI is far more capable than anyone else in the game and said the pace of improvement is very aggressive.
In space six to nine months, the AlphaGo he was able to win a good enough Go player, and then hit current and former world champions. He learned to play with himself and can play any game after defining his rules.
"No one predicted the pace of improvement," Musk said.
Anticipating a similar fate for self-driving vehicles, Elon Musk expects by the end of next year the automatic driving will include virtually all driving modes and be at least 100-200 percent safer than humans.
"The pace of improvement is really dramatic, but we need to find a way to ensure that the emergence of digital super-intelligence is symbiotic with humanity. "I think this is the only major existential crisis we are facing and the most pressing," he said.
"The risk of AI is far greater than the risk of nuclear weapons, and no one would suggest that we allow anyone to build nuclear weapons."
Elon Musk: "Note my words: AI is much more dangerous than nuclear, and we have no regulatory oversight, that's crazy."
