The German AV-TEST Safety Institute conducted a new survey to determine the best antivirus solutions for Windows 10 Fall Creators Update (1709 version). The results were a little strange.
Just as in previous trials, Kaspersky and McAfee products were at the top of the charts. However, VIPRE Security has managed to catch the maximum score with 18 points.
All three products were able to grab 6 grades in the protection, performance and usability categories, according to AV-TEST testing.
There are many other products that have almost reached the maximum score, including AhnLab's V3 Internet Security security applications, Avira Antivirus Pro, Bitdefender Internet Security, and Trend Micro Internet Security.
All of them scored 5,5 grades in one of the three tests mentioned above.
ESET's Internet Security this time caught the worst score, which is a surprise, as the company is currently developing one of the most advanced security solutions in the world.
The application captured only 15 grades: 5,5 for protection, 4 for performance and 5,5 for usability.
On the other hand, the performance of Microsoft Windows Defender seems to be much better than in previous tests, which proves that the company is improving the security application. As you know Windows Defender comes pre-installed on Windows 10 and offers default protection to systems when you are not using a third-party application.
In this new test round, the Windows Defender grabbed 15,5 points, so it surpassed ESET's product with 6 degrees for protection, 5,5 for performance and 4 for usability.
According to the detailed test results, Windows Defender ruled out the 98,9% of zero day malware attacks in the November survey and 100% on December trials, causing 6% deceleration when starting popular sites. For purposes of comparison, Kaspersky's security product took similar results in zero day malware detection, but caused a 13% slowdown in browsing.
