The US data center, the AVG security company, had a crash that may have affected its customers' email security services.
The US data center hosting the AVG Business CloudCare Email Security Service was shut down by an unscheduled maintenance stop this morning, as the company confirmed in a statement.
"The Anti-Spam section of the AVG Business CloudCare service has been shut down, and is likely to affect e-mail security clients in all areas," said a spokesman.
The company has 197 million active users and 101 million mobile phone users.
"The exact cause has not been determined yet, but we are in a state of repair. The service is expected to operate normally within the next 60 minutes.
"We will continue to monitor developments and regret any inconvenience caused to our customers."
A message on the company's website he says"AVG AntiSpam datacenter providers are currently experiencing a problem with their storage array and are working to restore a backup."
