From March 18, companies and individuals based in the German capital will be able to use the .berlin suffix at the end of their addresses.
The suffix -technically known as generic Top Level Domain, γενικό όνομα χώρου ανωτάτου επιπέδου- δημιουργήθηκε έπειτα από συμφωνία της τοπικής governmentof Berlin and ICANN, the American agency for assigning names and numbers to the Internet. After Berlin, cities such as London, Paris, New York, Johannesburg and Nagoya will get these endings as well. .london will be available from April.
The .berlin ending will cost between 30 and 60 Euros per year and is expected to raise approximately 500.000 euros in the first year. It was managed by dotBerlin.
