BIgLinux is a free and very beautiful distribution with very useful features. He should be much more popular than he is.
I thought I had seen it all and really I have tried almost every distro available. I have chosen Debian and Arch as the distributions I use on my personal computers and somewhere in one corner (VM) there is 20 GB for Windows in case I want to try some tweak for iGuru.gr.
I had never tried this particular distribution, although it has been around for almost two decades.
The BigLinux distribution comes from Brazil (supports Greek dont worry) and was originally based on Kubuntu with KDE Plasma as the main desktop. It's now based on Manjaro and lets you choose the layout with an OS X-like desktop.
BigLinux wants to be everything to you: for gaming, productivity, task automation, entertainment, communication and more. Sounds like pretty much any operating system on the planet, right?
Well, BigLinux has a few tweaks that make it different from an ordinary operating system.
For example, it has web apps (like Amazon Music, Deezer Music, Discord, Facebook, Instagram, Jitsi Meet, Messenger, Netflix, Outlook, all Google apps and more) in one place. You will find dozens of applications that take up very little space on your disk.
You can also choose which browser to install and use as default (Brave, Firefox, Google Chrome, Chromium, Vivaldi, LibreWorlf, Opera or Falkon), sync your phone (with KDE Connect), install drivers with Big Driver Manager, reduce background noise from electronic calls (with the help of neural network techniques).
BigLinux is optimized to facilitate gaming since it has Steam out of the box. You can also get remote access, restore points, automatic file compression, Android apps (via Waydroid) and more.
Yes, BigLinux has a lot to offer.
And if you think BigLinux is only for beginners you are wrong. There are subtle additions that make this distro ideal for any user, with any skill level.
For example there is the built-in SSH Manager that you will find in the Konsole terminal window. From this plugin, you can easily add entries to your SSH Config. When you add an entry, you can include the hostname, port, SSH key, username, folder, and profile.
If you're looking for a new operating system, try BigLinux. You can download the ISO and run it live to see if it suits you before installing.
You will be pleasantly surprised.
Very nice presentation, albeit brief. You don't mention anything about nvidia cards. Should we manually pass the drivers?
mention that you can “install drivers with Big Driver Manager”
