At 09/12 of 2021 we announced Bitdefender's decision to stop releasing the free Bitdefender Antivirus Free Edition application.
The decision of our company was announced with an email stating:
“The decision to discontinue a product is never easy. This is especially true when a product is as popular as our Free Edition product has been in recent years. Since the beginning of 2020, we've had to deal with massive changes in our industry, changes that have upended many of our cherished plans for product development. Unfortunately, Bitdefender Antivirus Free Edition was a casualty of these changes. As of January 1, 2022, Bitdefender Antivirus Free Edition will be officially discontinued and no longer available for use.”
But a move by Bitdefender pleased many as it continued to offer its free protection product for Windows devices just three months after the first app was cancelled.
The company then announced the launch of Bitdefender Antivirus Free on corporate blog. The post states that the app has been built from scratch.
Bitdefender Antivirus Free “offers enhanced features, better functionality and improved user experience compared to the previous free version” according to Bitdefender. So today Bitdefender Antivirus Free 27.0.41.192 version for Windows, Mac and Android was released

Good Antivirus but very heavy.
I had it on an old computer (2009) and it would reach my disk 100% continuously.
I switched to Avast and the disk works fine at 40%
