From January 1, 2022, the Bitdefender Antivirus Free Edition will be discontinued and no longer available for use.
The decision of our company was announced with an email stating:
"The decision to discontinue a product is never easy.
This is especially true when a product is as popular as our Free Edition product in recent years.
From the beginning of 2020, we had to face huge changes in our industry, changes that overturned many of our favorite product development plans.
Unfortunately, Bitdefender Antivirus Free Edition was a victim of these changes.
From January 1, 2022, Bitdefender Antivirus Free Edition will be officially discontinued and will no longer be available for use.
If you are user of the Free Edition, how will this affect you and how should you prepare?
We will continue to offer technical support for our free version until June 30, 2022. We hope this will give you time to choose and install an alternative that will protect your devices.

The company also mentions that you will be able to upgrade to the package Bitdefender Total Security, with €9,98 for the entire first year.
