BlackBerry has acquired mobile security firm Good Technology against how much of in $425.000.000. The agreement was not expected, as verbal conflicts between the two companies had been observed in the past.
BlackBerry is reported to have been more focused on mobile security, as demonstrated by the acquisition of Good Technology, which is only active in this industry.
“Some people may not realize it, but BlackBerry and Good Technology both have delivery in mobile security for more than a decade,” explained BlackBerry CEO Marty Beard in a Q&A.
"Our industry is very competitive and constantly evolving, so it is no surprise that we have taken some aggressive positions in recent years. "If you look more closely, you will see that we share a common heritage in the field of security and our strengths complement each other extremely well."
BlackBerry sees the future in this deal which is a clear sign that it is investing in security. Good Technology supports more than 6.000 customers including banks, aerospace companies, services healthcare, defense hardware companies, and many others.
BlackBerry immediately after the announcement of exmarket of Good Technology, saw its share price rise, reaching almost 5%.
