Open source system cleaning application BleachBit has released its first patch update (5.1.1 (beta)), adding improved cleaning capabilities, security fixes, and stability improvements.

For those who don't know, BleachBit is a free, open-source system cleaning program for Windows and Linux, written in Python and GTK 3.

Similar to other applications of its kind, BleachBit helps free up disk space by cleaning caches, cookies, and other temporary junk files. It can also securely delete files, clean up unallocated disk space, and compress Firefox and Chrome's SQLite databases to improve performance.

BleachBit 5.1.1 (beta), released this week, expands its functionality.
