Bluesky over 20 million users

Bluesky, the social X competitor, has benefited from the wave of departures from Elon's app . Today, Bluesky achieved an important milestone: exceeded 20 million users.

In addition, the news show that the app's rapid growth is closing the gap with another prominent X rival, Threads, in metrics like daily active users and website visits.

Bluesky's user base is still much smaller than Threads, which recently reported over 275 million monthly active users. However, if Bluesky's current growth rate persists, it could reach Threads' numbers, market intelligence firm Similarweb believes.

Its data shows that Threads had five times more daily active users (DAUs than daily active users) than Bluesky before in the US, but on November 15th, a peak day for Bluesky, Threads' lead over Bluesky was down to 1,5 with US-only visitors. (Daily active users include for mobile on iOS and Android, and not visitors from the web)

However, Musk's X app remains dominant, with a daily active user count in the US more than 10 times that of Bluesky.

Similarweb data also shows that Bluesky surpassed Threads in daily visits to websites in both the US and the UK, signaling strong interest from potential new users. Globally, Bluesky's daily site visits have yet to surpass the Threads app, but have been getting very close since mid-November.

Adoption of the Bluesky mobile app is also growing, Similarweb reports. After the election and through November 15, usage of the Bluesky app in the US increased by 519% compared to the first 10 months of the year. The UK also saw a rise, with usage increasing by 352%.

  1. This shows that people with different beliefs do not want to coexist in the same spaces. Cheers!
I personally chose to return to X that I had left because I could not stand the political direction it was taking.
